School Age Educational Services


All children need nurturing in order to learn and grow.  The Community Rehabilitation Center has fostered the educational needs of hundreds of children through the years through the provision of Early Intervention, Preschool and School Age services.  We provide support in all areas of motor, language, intellectual functioning, emotional and social development.  We help to plan and implement the individualized programs of children in need of support from birth through twenty one years of age, to give them the best possible chance of becoming valued, contributing members of society.  We provide special assistance in reaching developmental milestones and in establishing the foundation for a successful, meaningful, productive and happy life.

Our educational programs are currently established in two different locations, 25 Webster Street, Kingston and 250 Tuytenbridge Road, Lake Katrine.  Teachers are New York State certified in their areas of specialty including childhood education, special education, adaptive physical education, teacher of the deaf and hearing impaired, and teacher of the visually impaired.  Best practice instructional strategies are utilized to assist each child in the acquisition of skill sets that promote independence and academic progress.

•             Mandatory reporting requirements

Through the provision of individualized education plans, students access educational experiences at their developmental levels.  Teachers are skilled in differentiating lessons to accommodate student learning styles and work collaboratively with related service providers to create learning activities that are inclusive of therapeutic recommendations as well as core curriculum objectives.  This interdisciplinary team approach ensures that all students are active participants in their learning at their level of cognition.
